Who is Sherri Joubert?
Hurricane Katrina Pictures content is produced by me, Sherri Joubert. I am a Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita survivor. I’m a single mom, small business owner, home-schooler, tutor, scientist, consultant, and author.
I’m a chemist by education and left the chemical industry at the end of 2003 because of a downsizing. My small business was severely harmed by the storms and never recovered. I am in the process of shutting it down and looking for a new business or career.
My mottoes are “be the change that you wish to see in the world” by Mahatma Gandhi, and “those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it”. I don’t know who said the second one, but they were right.

Note
This blog is monetized. Here’s why: I spend a great deal of effort researching topics, searching for pictures and videos, and writing on this blog, and I need to make a living for myself and my son. I have a job, but I need extra income to supplement what I lost because of Katrina and Rita. When I am financially successful again, a lot of my charitable giving will be toward the recovery effort. I know the recovery won’t be complete for at least a couple of decades, so I have plenty of time to pull myself up by my own bootstraps. In the meantime, I volunteer my time to the recovery when I can. It’s all I have to give right now.
You can donate directly to the relief efforts through many charities and I encourage to do so. You can also volunteer your time through some organizations and churches. There are several legitimate charities serving New Orleans and the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast. Before you donate, be sure to research any charity you are not familiar with to be sure it is legitimate. There have been several scams getting people to donate to non-existent charities.
